Audubon Area Security District

Welcome to the
Audubon Area Security District

District Information

Patrol Line
460-6677

The Audubon Security District is an entity separate and distinct from the Audubon Area Zoning Association. It was founded in 2002 after ratification by area voters to implement a steady security patrol shared by all within its boundaries. The AAZA is the sponsoring organization.

All properties within the perimeter of: Exposition Boulevard to St. Charles Avenue to Arabella Street to Hurst Street to Nashville Avenue to Prytania Street and back to Exposition Boulevard. Officers are on duty 24-hours each day. Some of these shifts are shared patrols with the Upper Hurstville Security District that abuts the AASD at Prytania Street.

The patrol is funded by an annual parcel fee on each property in the district collected annually with your city property taxes. The Board of Commissioners is comprised of nine residents within the district. The majority of these Commissioners is appointed by the AAZA Board. The AASD Commission sets the policies regarding safety measures, approves contracts and sets the budget each year. The Executive Director manages the daily aspects of the District.

Change in Patrol Providers

AASD Neighbors:

As reported in an earlier email, a new security patrol company for the Audubon Area Security District will begin this week. Security Engineers Inc (‘SEI’) will begin service to our neighborhood at 7:00 am on Wednesday, June 1. As previously, the patrol will be shared with Upper Hurstville (the other side of Prytania) and will patrol around the clock each day (24/7). The number to reach the AASD patrol officers will stay the same: 504-460-6677. Please make sure you have this number in your phone for easy access.

As before, we encourage you to use the patrol as often as necessary to ensure your safety and that of your family. While the NOPD is the primary law enforcement agency and must be called for serious crimes, the AASD patrol can assist in most instances as a supplemental patrol. Because the officers patrol only the AASD and adjacent UHSD area, they can respond much more quickly than the NOPD. Do not hesitate to call them for any security reason. And, of course, AASD officers are always available to provide a safe escort when entering or leaving your home, to handle nuisance complaints, to check out a suspicious person or event, or to conduct property checks of your home while you are away.

We have a new Out-of-Town Request Form which should be completed to receive the home check service. See below. The request form below will be posted on our website and Officers will also have forms in their patrol vehicles.

SEI has promised that by the time they take over the patrol, all officers will have received proper training. We ask for your assistance and patience as we work out any initial issues. Thus, your feedback, good or bad, on the new patrol can help us improve the service. If you have comments concerning the patrol or anything else security district related, please send an email to audubonsecurity@bellsouth.net or any Board member.

We appreciate you working with us for a safer neighborhood.
